Gabrielle Caul, specialises in painting on silk.  Gay's love of vibrant colours is reflected in her work.  Gay is a member of the international Guild of Silk Painters. She exhibits her work widely. Gay sells a wide range of paintings, undertakes commissions and talks. Her artwork is also available in a range of greetings cards.

Gay primarily uses plants, flowers and organic shapes to provide the inspiration for her work.  She explores the structure of the subject in her paintings, often focussing upon a particular section in depth.

Gay finds the process of silk painting very engaging.  She loves the translucent quality of the silk, the way the paint flows on the fabric and the colour blending that can be achieved.

Silk painting allows boldness to emerge in the paintings in a way that she feels would be difficult to achieve in other media.

The paintings develop the form and colour of the subject in a unique way, capturing its essence in a very contemporary format.
